The following resources have been prepared to support remote teaching.

General resources

Primary resources website - free lesson plans, activity ideas and resources for primary teachers.

The BBCs Bitesize Daily has been developed by the BBC to provide new lessons every weekday for pupils in year 1 to year 10. Created in collaboration with teachers and educational experts, its videos and interactive activities cover core subjects and other topics on the school curriculum.

Oak National Academy:

Schools/parents might also consider using resources from Oak National Academy, which was created by teachers from schools across England in response to school closures. This free resource for teachers will provide the equivalent of 3 hours of lessons a day for primary school pupils and 4 hours a day for secondary across a variety of subjects. Lessons have been created by practising teachers, combining videos, quizzes and worksheets.

Parents can download the pack, which provides guidance and videos to share should you want to use Oak as part of your remote education plans. Packs are available for primary, secondary and specialist schools, and include the full Oak curriculum (until the end of the summer term).

The Learning Zone (Oxford University Museum of Natural History website) - covers animals, fossils, insects, minerals, rocks.

Adaptive Learning for Key Stage 2 (Atom Learning website) - interactive online lessons for children aged 8-12. Covers English, Maths, Verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Free during the period of school closures.

Classroom Secrets Kids website - platform for learning grammar, punctuation, spelling, maths, reading history (years 1-6).

Doorway online website - collection of interactive literacy games and numeracy activities.

Emile website - online program for 4-12 year olds that covers the UK national primary curriculum for numeracy and GPS with some phonics thrown in (free access currently).

Emotional ABCs website - teach children ages 4-11, how to figure out what they are feeling, why they are having that emotion, and how to make better choices.

Mind Up website - designed to help children develop an understanding of their brain, emotions and actions. The activities help build their focus and awareness, and form positive relationships with others.

Pobble 365 website - ‘One picture. One teaching resource. Every day.’

Robin Hood Multi Academy Trust website - lots of learning projects for parents and schools (EYFS, KS1, Y3/4, Y5/6). Be sure to read the project overview guides first.

Home Learning Resources (Teacher’s pet website) - provides thousands of resources for KS1 and KS2.

Learning at home (TTS website) - free home learning activity booklets for Early Years, KS1 and KS2.

Twinkl website - 500,000+ teacher-created materials and resources.

Phonics

Letters and Sounds for Home and School (YouTube)– free on line phonics sessions available for Phases 2 - 5. Please speak to your child’s class teacher for information on where to start.

Mr Thorne (Mr T) phonics (YouTube) – free on line phonics sessions available for Phases 2 – 5. Please speak to your child’s class teacher for information on where to start and the order in which to progress. Geraldine Giraffe can be used to support younger children.

The Alphablocks (YouTube and BBC iplayer) - The Alphablocks are living letters who appear in wonderful videos to help your children learn about phonics and develop their reading skills.

Teach your monster to read website - an award-winning game that makes learning to read fun. The computer version is free

Oxford Owl website - free e-books for ages 3-11. Free account signup is needed. Once you have an account you can access the Oxford e-library where you can read books that match the book band colour levels for home readers

Storyline Online – A catalogue of children’s stories that are read on line for you and your children to enjoy together. Can older children write out and improve the story?

Literacy Shed Plus – Activities and comprehension questions linked with books pitched at KS1 and KS2

World of David Walliams – Daily audio stories and activities linked with the books of David Walliams

Antony Horowitz - A couple of short stories written by Antony Horowitz.

International Children's Digital Library – A range of online books in a range of different languages.

The Reading Realm (Website and App)- Daily English reading lessons and home learning packs

Read Theory - Free account signup is needed. Once you have an account you can access a range of activities and texts designed to improve childrens comprehension and fluency

Navigo - Pyramid of the Lost Words (app) on the iRead website. Aims to support beginner readers to develop reading skills (accuracy, fluency and comprehension) through engaging with the personalised content and activities

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler - Home Learning Packs. Free activity packs for 3-7 year olds to complete as you read the books.

Dave the Dog is worried about coronavirus (Nurse Dotty Books website) - a story book for young children that aims to help them learn about coronavirus without fear.

The coronavirus explained and what you should do (YouTube Video, Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell) -  an excellent, informative animated video, explaining how the virus works and what we need to do to defeat it. Suitable for older children. 

Coronavirus (BrainPop website) - a range of resources to help children learn about the coronavirus, viruses generally, the history of microscopy etc. Includes an excellent animated video and quizzes.
