My Child’s Progress & Concerns

Who are the best people to talk to in the Primary Phase if I am concerned about my child’s progress?

If you or your child have any concerns, we encourage you to come into school at the end of the school day and initially speak to your child’s class teacher. It is important that you are given time to explain and discuss your concerns fully or make an appointment, as we feel that a partnership between school and home is essential in supporting you and your child.

If you are still concerned that your child is still not making progress and you wish to discuss the provision for your child you should speak to the child's Year Group Leader and then Primary's SENCO, Mrs Pitt. Mrs Pitt is available at the beginning and end of most days.

Mrs Pitt can be contacted by telephone on: 0121 566 6600

Or by email: SENDEnquiry@waverley.bham.sch.uk

Mrs Pitt under the direction of the Head Teacher is responsible for:

- Daily implementation of our SEN Information Report.

- Advising and training staff on SEND issues. Updating the SEND register on a regular basis.

- Implementing, with the Head Teacher and Leadership Team, provisions to meet pupils' needs, whilst monitoring and evaluating the provision.

- Liaising with and supporting parents and external agencies.

- Overseeing the ordering, deploying and updating of resources.

- Leading and managing other staff in school.

- Overseeing the Graduated Approach and making decisions on next steps within Primary for SEND children.

- Organising Annual Reviews for children with an EHCPlan.

Waverley School’s SEND Governor is Yazmine Williams. She regularly meets with the SENCO and Leadership Team and attends meetings to discuss provision, standards, progress and any issues that need to be addressed.
