English

English is the bedrock of the curriculum. It allows students to develop critical life skills such as; oracy, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Pupils will have exposure to a wide variety of literary texts, both fiction and non-fiction. Texts are from a diverse range of backgrounds that bring the curriculum alive.  Our curriculum has carefully been planned with Year 13 in mind and mapped backwards all the way to year 7. Pupils critically think about the author’s intentions and why. They learn how to express this articulately both verbally and in a written form.  Our aim is to ensure all pupils are confident, critical and cultured, which is a golden thread throughout the curriculum.
