The application form

The application form will ask you personal details about yourself, including your name, date of birth, and your current home address.

It will also ask you about the details of two parents/carers who have legal responsibility for you.

You will be asked to share your grades in your subjects (actual or predicted) and to select the courses you are interested in.

There is a section where you get to write a small personal statement in support of your application. You should consider the following:

  • any success stories and achievements you can tell us about;
  • how you have shown you are resilient and committed to working hard;
  • your academic interests (i.e. which subjects do you enjoy studying);
  • why you would like to join our Sixth Form. Don't forget to read about what makes our Sixth Form special on our website.

You can choose whether to submit your application online via our website or to post in a printed copy of the form.  Alternatively if you'd prefer, we are happy to send one to you in the post.All posted entries should be addressed to: Waverley Sixth Form Admissions Officer, c/o Waverley School, 311 Yardley Green Road, Bordesley Green East, Birmingham, B9 5QA

The interview

After you submit an application, you will be contacted by an admissions tutor at Waverley Sixth Form. They will talk you through the next steps of your application. You may be invited to attend the college for an interview.

The interview is an opportunity for you to showcase the information you shared in your personal statement and to talk through your options for studying at our Sixth Form. It will also be an opportunity for you to meet some of our staff and to take a look around the Sixth Form.

We are very proud of our Sixth Form achievements. We want you to be proud of your education setting too. Don't forget to tell us about your successes and how you have worked hard to achieve in your learning. Here are some suggestions for the interview:

  • it's okay to talk through your subject options with your admissions tutor. It may be there are other courses you are interested in that may be a better fit for your ambitions;
  • it's okay to be honest if things did not go according to plan with your GCSEs. We understand that not everything always works out. Talk through your options with your admissions tutor;
  • share with us what makes you unique. Everyone has a story to tell, this is your chance.
  • be proud of what you have accomplished. It's sometimes too easy to be overly self-critical. We love to work with our students and we want to know what makes you special.
  • focus on the next steps. Our work at the Sixth Form is about preparing you for your next steps in life. We cannot do that the right way if we do not know what you want to achieve. Consider what you want to do next, even if you're not certain about what that may look like.
  • be professional, calm, and well-presented. We ask our students to wear smart casual attire during their time at Sixth Form.

If you have any questions concerning your application please contact enquiry@waverley.bham.sch.uk or telephone 0121 566 6600.
