Free School Meals (Oct Half-Term)

Please see the letter below from Mr Hyde concerning Free School Meals during the October half-term.

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may have heard in the press that Birmingham City Council have decided to provide families who are eligible for Free School Meals with access to supermarket vouchers for the half-term break. We are delighted with this decision and believe that this will continue to support our families during one of the more testing and challenging times our community has ever experienced.

Birmingham City Council have advised us that further details about the scheme will be published shortly and that schools will support the delivery of vouchers to families during the first week back after half term (week beginning 2nd November 2020). This means that the payment will be retrospective. Whilst this is perhaps not ideal for all families, we want to assure you that we will support Birmingham City Council to distribute the vouchers in the quickest, most effective way possible.

In the meantime, we are signposting access to early support should you or your family experience hardship during this half-term break. We have published information on our websites for access to support (click here) and you can find a contact for Birmingham Children’s Partnership from the Birmingham City Council website (click here).

On behalf of the staff at Waverley Education Foundation, we wish you a safe, restful half-term and we look forward to welcoming our students back on the 2nd November 2020.

Yours faithfully,

Mr P. Hyde

Executive Principal
